Winter visitors
We still have lots of snow on the ground here, and it’s frozen hard. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, the local wildlife is still very much in evidence. Today we had two hawks flying around nearby. I don’t know what type they are, if anyone does I’d be interested to find out.
At the same time, a fox came trotting through the nearby fields. We’ve seen this fox before in the distance, but this is the closest we have seen it come.
Less spectacular, but equally pretty, we have the occasional insect that invites itself indoors for the winter. This moth is one of two that have appeared recently. I hope they manage to survive the winter!

Love the fox, Tony! Gorgeous animal. Great shot of the raptor too. Amazing that anybody can find food when the land is ice, but somehow they manage. Thank you for sharing.

I never get to see the wildlife around here, our home is located in the middle of other houses. I do on the other hand often find the tracks from them when I’m out walking in the area so I know they are there. =)
My parents and my grandmother live in a village and they feed the wild animals during the winter. Every time I’m there to visit I hope to get to see some of it, but this far I’ve only seen birds. Last year they had a wolf with a radio collar passing by too, unfortunately someone decided it would be a good idea to kill it.

Shannon, we see lots of evidence of voles or mice in the fields, spoil-heaps from their tunnels are everywhere. We may even have more wildlife here than you do, even if it isn’t quite so big or close.
Sanna, shame that you don’t get to see things from where you live. We moved only a mile or two further into the country from where we were before, and now we see all sorts of things. Unfortunately, killing animals for fun is also popular here. I once bought a greek phrase book from a french store, and a large chunk of it was about ‘where can I buy a hunting license’, ‘can I kill that’, and so on. Maybe these people should only be allowed to hunt each other, that might solve a few problems.

Spectacular photos. How absolutely breathtaking it would be to see a fox… we hope to see one around our place someday. Enjoyed your comments about our owl. We hope to capture more wildlife photos in the future, such as the wonderful mosaic you have provided to your viewers.
